Lisa Choi, flute
Flutist Yejin (Lisa) Choi is a 15-year-old freshman at Centennial High School and has been under the tutelage of Dr. Rachel Choe at the Peabody Preparatory since 2008. Lisa has won numerous awards, including Signature Recitals at the Peabody Institute and an Honors recital. She was chosen as the principle flutist in the Howard County Gifted and Talented (GT) Band and is a member of the Peabody Youth Orchestra and Howard County High School GT Orchestra (HSGTO).
Lisa was selected as a member of Maryland All-State Junior Band for 3 years. She performed with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in 2010 under Marin Alsop and performed in Marina Piccinini’s master class in 2012. During the summer of 2012, Lisa went on an east coast tour to New York and Philadelphia with the Peabody Youth Orchestra. She will perform with HSGTO as a soloist playing Chaminade’s Flute Concertino in May.
Lisa is a member of BBT (Bonnie Branch Trio) with a violinist, Kenneth Ryu, and a pianist, Michelle Bao. Recently the trio won 2nd prize at the Maryland State Music Teacher’s Association (MSMTA) Chamber Music Festival. The Trio was invited to play at many places such as Nordstrom at Columbia Mall. In addition, Lisa was one of the winners of the 2013 American Protege International Concerto Competition and will have a recital at Carnegie Hall in December 2013.
