Sean Li, saxophone
Sean Li, age 16, is currently a junior at Centennial High School in Ellicott City, Maryland. He began to play the alto saxophone when he was eight years old, and studies privately with Elizabeth du Toit. His love for the instrument has continued to grow since then. In eighth grade, Sean won the junior division of the Young Artist’s competition, and was given the privilege of performing with the Columbia Orchestra as a soloist. Additionally, he has participated in many honor ensembles including the Howard County Gifted and Talented Band as well as the Maryland Junior All State Band. He is currently the first chair, first alto saxophonist at his school’s wind ensemble. Sean also participates in the internationally renowned Trinity College London music exams and has achieved multiple distinctions. In addition, Sean received the prestigious Exhibition Prize awarded by Trinity College London for receiving the highest distinction marks among students from North America and the Caribbean Islands. Sean was awarded the Associate of Trinity College London (ATCL) in Saxophone in 2016.
