2022-2023 SEASON

Dance Connections, Jennifer Aversa, Director

Dance Connections student dance companies are under the direction of Jennifer Aversa and are comprised of students ages 7-18. They are service-based, non-competitive companies that perform at area nursing homes, festivals, fairs, and fundraisers. Our previous performances include the Festival Lights in Ocean City, MD, Take the Stage at Hershey Park, Half Time Performance for the Harlem Globetrotters, Ravenwood Assisted Living in Hagerstown, MD, Charlestown Village Nursing Home, Centennial Lane Elementary School, St. John’s Lane Elementary School, Northfield Elementary School, Waterloo Elementary School, Mount Hebron Preschool, and A Moving Mission Concert to benefit juvenile diabetes at Anne Arundel Community College.

Dancers have had the opportunity to work with guest choreographers including Elisa Clark from Mark Morris Dance Group and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Jamile McGee from So You Think You Can Dance, Helen Marie Carruthers from Dakshina/Daniel Phoenix Singh Dance Company, and Deborah Engerman, former ballet Mistress with Rasta Thomas’ Bad Boys of Dance.

Dance Connections, Inc. holds two fundraising concerts per year and has raised over $10,000 for worthy organizations in the area including The Casey Cares Foundation, The “Love You More Heart Home” in Beijing, China, and most recently Called To Care for Orphans. We believe dance is a beautiful art form in which we can express ourselves and be used as a service to our community. Our philosophy is that dance should be to bring joy and happiness to all and make the world a better place.
