Audition for the Columbia orchestra!

The Columbia Orchestra is a vibrant community orchestra made up entirely of volunteer musicians from around the region. We are dedicated to making great music together while providing an enriching musical experience for players of all ages and backgrounds.

Auditions for Substitutes

We are always auditioning for our substitute list across all sections. Having a strong pool of substitutes allows us to bring in talented players when needed to cover vacancies. Subs get put on a list and are called as openings arise during our season.

Current Openings

We encourage musicians of all instruments to audition for our substitute list. Details on any permanent openings for the upcoming season will be posted on our website in early summer.

The Audition Process

Auditions are held as needed. They consist of a live audition in front of a panel including the Music Director, section principals, and other orchestra members. Sight-reading and prepared excerpts are required. Check back here in late summer for excerpts and other audition materials.

We can’t wait for you to join us! The Columbia Orchestra offers amateur and experienced musicians alike the chance to perform great orchestral works while being part of a tight-knit musical community!
