Kyle Brightwell is a former member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Boston Pops Orchestra where he spent 10 seasons performing in the percussion section. He began his musical studies on piano and guitar at age four, and started focusing on percussion studies at age eleven. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the Juilliard School studying under Daniel Druckman and his Master’s degree from Boston University studying under Tim Genis.

In addition to his orchestral career in Boston, Kyle has performed with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Kansas City Symphony, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, National Arts Center Orchestra of Canada, Sarasota Orchestra, U.S. Navy Band, U.S. Army Orchestra, Orquestra Sinfonica da Bahia, among many others. Kyle made his soloist debut with the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra performing James MacMillan’s Veni, Veni, Emmanuel in March 2012.

Most of Kyle’s current musical energies are directed at his two teaching positions at The Boston Conservatory at Berklee and Boston University, where he has been on faculty since 2013 and 2014 respectively. Many of his students are currently accomplished high level performers throughout the world and serve as Kyle’s main inspiration for continuing to perform and push himself musically and continue learning.
