Columbia's 50th Birthday Celebration

About the Concert

The Columbia Orchestra is pleased to participate in Columbia 50th's Celebrate Columbia event. 1967 saw the release of the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's and Magical Mystery Tour. Glenn Quader and his rock band from the Piedmont Symphony join the Orchestra for songs from those landmark records, other hits from the "summer of love," plus hits by Queen, Journey, the Eagles, Soundgarden, and more!

This is a free event — no tickets are required. Come early for a dedication of the Poster Trees at 5pm, vignettes from Chesapeake Shakespeare in a wonderful excerpt from A Midsummer Night's Dream at 6pm, Misako Ballet at 6:30pm, followed by the Orchestra at 7pm. Jazz trio Preverbal featuring Columbia native Zach Brown will finish the evening with a futuristic set not to be missed
