2022-2023 SEASON

Short Stories

Jim Rouse Theatre

Saturday, March 27, 2010 - 7:30 p.m.

Definitely one for the whole family! Symphonies may be long like novels, but great music often comes in smaller packages. Each of these Argentinian, Czech, French, and American stories has a flavor all its own. Maryland composer Jonathan Leshnoff is gaining international renown, and his Rush will sweep you off your feet! Plus, performances by the young maestros who win our Young Artist Competition are a highlight to the season.

This concert sponsored in part by a generous contribution from PNC.

Alberto Ginastera - "Malambo" from Estancia

Antonín Dvořák - The Noon Witch

Jonathan Leshnoff - Rush

Maurice Ravel - Mother Goose Suite

Henryk Wieniawski - Violin Concerto in d minor, Movement 1

Charles Griffes - Poem for Flute

Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky - Violin Concerto, Movement 3
