About the Concert
World travels are at the heart of our 40th anniversary season opener! Smetana takes us on a musical tour of his Czech homeland by sailing us down its most famous river. The joys and struggles of Finland’s people are so richly woven into the fabric of Sibelius’ masterwork, it was dubbed their “Symphony of Independence” in its day. And you’ll laugh out loud during our showing of Chaplin’s classic film, complete with a live performance of Andrew Earle Simpson’s new score commissioned to celebrate our anniversary." Join us at 6:30 for a free pre-concert lecture with Bill Scanlan Murphy!
