The Columbia Orchestra is pleased to participate in Columbia 50th's Celebrate Columbia event. 1967 saw the release of the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's and Magical Mystery Tour. Glenn Quader and his rock band from the Piedmont Symphony join the Orchestra for songs from those landmark records, other hits from the "summer of love," plus hits by Queen, Journey, the Eagles, Soundgarden, and more!
This is a free event — no tickets are required. Come early for a dedication of the Poster Trees at 5pm, vignettes from Chesapeake Shakespeare in a wonderful excerpt from A Midsummer Night's Dream at 6pm, Misako Ballet at 6:30pm, followed by the Orchestra at 7pm. Jazz trio Preverbal featuring Columbia native Zach Brown will finish the evening with a futuristic set not to be missed

Small ensembles from the Columbia Orchestra play in a free chamber concert at the Black Box Theatre at the Howard County Center for the Arts! The program will include music by Brahms, Tchaikovsky, and Smetana, alongside works by Bernard Herrmann and Elizabeth Szoronyi. Admission is free but monetary donations will be collected for Ellicott City Partnership's Flood Relief Fund.

Join the Orchestra on June 19, 2018 for a FREE Summer Pops Concert at the Chrysalis on the grounds of Merriweather Park at Symphony Woods. The whole family will love classic film scores by John Williams, A Salute to Andrew Lloyd Webber, hits by Billy Joel, music from Game of Thrones and Wonder Woman, patriotic songs, and the ultimate outdoor classic: The 1812 Overture! Bring your lawn chair or blanket and picnic dinner but no glass containers or alcohol. Adult beverages and concessions from the food truck Pasta La Vista Baby will be available for purchase. This concert will last approximately 90 minutes including a 10-minute intermission. A limited number of lawn chairs will be available for rent on a first-come, first-served basis. A limited number of handicapped parking spaces may be reserved by calling 410-465-8777. Monetary donations to support The Community Foundation of Howard County’s Relief Fund for the 2018 Ellicott City flood will be collected.
Directions: From points north: Take 29 South to 175 West (Columbia). Continue as 175 becomes Little Patuxent Parkway, for approximately 1.8 miles. Pass Mall Access Road. Make a right at the first short cross street after Mall Access Road. Make a right at the T-Junction (directly in front of 40 Corporate Center) Signage and parking staff will direct those with reserved parking for Lot 4 to a surface lot, and those without reserved parking (overflow parking) to a structured garage.
