We want all of our attendees to have a great concert experience! Here are a few things that might make your time with the orchestra even more enjoyable. Bringing a guest? Be sure to pass this on to them. If you don’t find the answers you’re looking for, feel free to ask us.
Before the Show
Things to Consider
Here are some tips to make sure your experience goes smoothly and you find your seat easily:
- If you have already bought tickets, please have your e-tickets ready on your smart device or hold your physical tickets in hand. If you can display the receipt on your smart device, physical paper tickets are not necessary.
- Have tickets at will call? A team member will help you at the will call counter. Need to purchase tickets the day of the show? Please go to the box office.
- Make sure cell phones are off or silenced.
- No food & drink or flash photography are allowed.
- If you arrive late, please wait in the lobby until the first piece has ended to avoid disturbing other audience members.

Bringing Children to a Show
CO performances are for people of all ages, and children are always welcome. We hope this information is helpful as you introduce young music lovers to classical music.
- Depending on the music and the program, most concerts are 75 minutes long.

Attire Tips
How to Dress
To ensure an enjoyable concert experience, the Columbia Orchestra encourages all our attendees to come prepared and enthusiastic. We often receive inquiries regarding appropriate attire for audience members. Here are a few suggestions to guide you.
- There is no specific dress code or attire required for CO performances.
- During the concert, the orchestra will wear black attire.
- We invite you to wear something comfortable and dress up as much as you would like for the occasion.
During the Show
What to do?
There are several things you might want to know for during the show:
- Observe the musicians on stage and witness their remarkable instrumental skills and techniques.
- Typically patrons wait until the end of an entire piece to clap but if you are moved by something in the music, spontaneous applause is welcome.
- Concerts usually last 60-90 minutes including intermission. Restrooms are conveniently located on both floors of the Jim Rouse Theatre.
